Sports leaders call for club events programme

Sports leaders across South Yorkshire are being encouraged to take advantage of a series of events, training sessions and seminars created to support clubs in the region.

The month-long programme, which kicked off at the start of September, is made up of 26 events being held at 14 venues in Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster.

Rotherham’s Club Development Evening will take place at Maltby Leisure Centre on Monday, 24 September, before an event focusing on Working Together to Safeguard Children and Young People at the local Safeguarding Children Board on Tuesday, 18 September. Both events are free and run from 6pm to 9pm.

Stuart Rogers, Partnership Development Officer at South Yorkshire Sport, the county sports partnership, said: “We have developed this events programme in September to capitalise on the Olympic and Paralympic buzz and support those already involved in sport in South Yorkshire.

“There are some fantastic events, and many have already proved really popular. We’re encouraging everyone to get involved and sign up for the remaining sessions and courses as part of our work to develop a strong regional sporting network.”
