About Rotherham - History

Early settlers in Rotherham date right back to the Bronze, Iron and Neolithic ages, next came the Romans and William the Conqueror, whilst in more recent times Georgian facades and Victorian architecture have contributed to the rich historic legacy of the town. Rotherham was also home to England's first ever railway line, linking the town to near neighbour Sheffield in 1838.
